John Vercoe Memorial Lecture

John Vercoe (1936-2005) made significant contributions to international livestock research and Australia's northern beef cattle industry. He spent much of his career working at CSIRO and is best know for his involvement in the introduction of Zebu and Zebu-cross cattle into Australia.  He took a special interest in livestock research in developing countries through his involvement with FAO, the International Livestock Centre for Africa and Ethiopia, the International Livestock Research Centre on Animal Diseases in Kenya and the International Livestock Research Institute.
